(My first critique posted here ever, please don't be too serious about the language used. My English is really bad, but eitherway- I'll start: )

The colours used in the background of the picture are very broken: muddy brown, broken white, unclear blue. This accentuates the central motive, the creature resting under its umbrella. Though those colours stick out very much contrasting to those of the background they do not overwhelm with contrast. They are smooth enough arrenged into the rest of the picture that it is very harmoning.

The drawing mixtured with painting tecniques look very intersting- I like the way you have painted the plants, which are rotten (?) and its mirroring shades (I mentioned my English being bad)
The way you added lighter effects into the background and the factories lets one pay more attention to it. The central in the background looks like a mountain or dump heap. I cannot really identify it.
The sky is nice textured and those star accents have something surreal-sweet.
The mittle ground is kept in nearly just one colour. This mud grey does not distract from the details. I could imagine another colour would, though.
The crem coloured plant has a bit of a sculpture, too. Its shaddow looks more authentic then the one of the umbrella for example. There is the problem, that the grip of the umbrella has a much too thinn shaddow.
About the shaddows: I am not sure how it should even be possible. The light source should actually be slighter because of all the smog and clouds in the sky.

The pipe at the front is also attention seeking by its colours the same goes for the (talking?) rocks right before the backround at the right side. I think the last mentioned distracts a bit.
Where as the first mentioned is elementary for the meaning of the picture.

Though its surreal influences and the peaceful title, rest, this picture clearly critizes indiffrence, carelessness against the pullution. This creature seems to have nothing in his mind but resting. His lazy attitude mirrors the way most people behave.

One could take it in as an apell to humanity to pay more attention to the environment and to care less about his own state of being.
