"Yellow Stars" causes me much difficulty. I love it, but for what reason I am not sure.

Bright, vibrant colors could very well distract from the cool, muted tones of the ice floats and water, but you have employed them to enhance the overall image. The strange shapes dwelling in this picture (and numerous others of yours), on first glance, appear soft and harmless in a way reminiscent of Dr. Suess characters. Longer inspection creates a growing sense of unease since these objects/creatures are impossible to identify. One resembles a kidney with tubular growths, in fact they all have an organic quality and with little to no variance in texture you suggest all manner of feathers, limbs, leaves, and tumors to be protruding from their exteriors.

Looking through your gallery I see you as too unique an artist to insinuate that you replicate anyone's style. However, I do imagine you painting with the ghost of Miro guiding your brush, while Dali occasionally nudges you or gives a word of encouragement.

The top-heavy composition of "Yellow Stars" works in your favor, unlike many other similar works this doesn't feel cramped. We are allowed to breath as a viewer. All the lines making their way across the landscape help move our eyes from one point to another while connecting all the elements together. Sadly our eyes are allowed to wander too much because of the similarity in size of all the "characters." If one were more dominant our gaze could have a place to settle.

Very well done.
